A unique way of cooking in Northern India and large parts of Pakistan and Afghanistan, the tandoor is a cylindrical clay oven in which food is cooked over a charcoal fire. It is currently a very important fixture in Indian restaurants around the world. Food cooked in a tandoor retains all the juices and taste inside and is considered very healthy. Dishes cooked in the tandoor are usually eaten with coriander chutney and fresh salads.
